Radiata Pine seed pre-sowing treatment
Germination of radiata pine seed can be improved with treatment before sowing. Our opinion is that seed should at least be soaked in water for 48 hours before sowing. Our recommendation is to stratify (cold chill at about 4ºC while damp) radiata pine seed for at least 7 days and if possible 3 weeks before sowing, particularly when using CP seed. This is a recommendation only. Nursery sites vary considerably and nothing substitutes for local experience.
